There was a season when the most confident voice in the room belonged to a woman who could not speak up in her own house.
That was me.
I have spent my life behind a microphone. Nineteen years of it in radio. Since 1990 I have been teaching, mentoring, and podcasting. Somewhere in all those hours I learned the one thing most people miss. A polished voice does not hold a listener. A true one does.
For 26 years I lived inside an abusive marriage. Inside those walls I learned to fight for my voice. I stayed in the Word. I taught the Redeem Your Voice camp for three years while the strain at home pressed hard.
I would go live on Facebook and teach from the overflow of what God was doing in me. But I never put my pain on a screen for the world to watch. I spoke from what He was healing, not from what was still bleeding. I authored three devotionals, Listen to The Vinedresser, as I battled for my voice by listening to God.
My husband passed in 2022. Afterward I walked through extensive Neurocycle mentoring, the mind renewal work developed by Dr. Caroline Leaf, and with the guidance of Elana van Deventer, I rebuilt my mind and confidence.
Then in 2025 came breast cancer.
It took two cancer surgeries to finish teaching me the thing my whole work now stands on. You speak from your scars, not your wounds. A wound still hurts and asks for care. A scar has healed, and it becomes the map another woman follows out.
That is why I do this.
